About

Hello, I'm Lauramaria,
A designer and creative problem-solver

I prefer to call myself a human-centered designer. I am an advocate for human needs, and I strive to understand problems before trying to solve them.

Currently I focus on conceptual design in the realm of experiences—mainly in user experience (UX), but I can also apply my design and research methods to problems unrelated to digital products.

I have a Master’s degree in Human-Technology Interaction and a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Design, with years of work experience as a visual designer and an art director.

Here's what I can do
Skills & knowledge

Design thinking

I apply the best practices to my work, yet understand that each project is different.

Facilitation

I plan and facilitate workshops and design sprints, often from scratch, for various participants from fellow designers to clients, end users, and other stakeholders.

User research

Especially qualitative and formative research to guide design. I can conduct e.g. interviews or contextual inquiries, and also analyse and synthesise the results.

User testing

From rigorous usability tests to quick-and-dirty prototype evaluation.

Usability

I can also do an expert review to find potential usability problems in a product, and of course design with usability best practices in mind.

Accessibility

I try to ensure my designs are as accessible as possible and WCAG 2.1 compliant. I also do accessibility evaluations.

Wireframing and prototyping

From low-fidelity sketches and wireframes to clickable and high-fidelity prototypes.

...and a wannabe circus artist

Whenever I'm not solving design problems, I'm probably hanging somewhere upside down.

I'm passionate about aerial acrobatics, and train regularly on my apparatus of choice, aerial silks.
